create documentation for your SAS programs |
| |
|
|
|
Easily
create publication-quality documentation of your SAS/AF programs. Cataloger
will create a Microsoft Word document containing all
the FRAME or PROGRAM entries in a catalog. As for FRAME entries,
this output can include an image of the Frame itself, the FRAME's
SCL, and a table showing all the FRAME's widgets and a description of
their key attributes.
Many
other catalog entry types can also be exported to Word.

| Search
SAS Catalog entries and data |
| |
|
|
|
Cataloger
can search all the SCL and SOURCE entries in a SAS catalog for
a specified search string. The processing time is extremely fast!
For example, it can search 100 SCL entries of 1000 lines each
in under 30 seconds!
Benchmark
performed on a 400 MHz laptop computer with 128 meg of RAM.

| Compare
SAS Catalog Entries and data |
| |
|
|
|
Cataloger
allows you to interactively compare SCL and SOURCE entries (even
ASCII files!) in two side-by-side windows. Line differences are
highlighted and re-synchronization is performed automatically.
Variables in SAS data sets can also be compared in this interactive
manner.

Cataloger
allows you to interactively view and set many aspects of SAS data
sets. You can re-order and create variables, define sort order,
indexes, and passwords. You can also save Version 8 data sets
as Version 6 data sets. Long variable names are automatically
converted to Version 6 standards.

A Cataloger Success Story
I
recently had the occasion to use CATALOGER in the course of
an assignment, and I found it to be an invaluable consulting
tool.
I
was working out-of-town validating a SAS application with which
I was not familiar. CATALOGER was extremely helpful in getting
me knowledgeable about the application's screens, frames and
SCL quickly. In addition, because I had excellent paper documentation,
I could remain productive during evenings in the hotel room
when I didn't have electronic access to the application. This
meant that I could use my evening time to come up with an efficient
plan for the next day - helpful in ensuring that I finished
the job on time.
Finally,
because the CATALOGER creates nicely formatted output in a Word
document, I could include that document as part of the project
documentation for the client.
I recommend using CATALOGER to any SAS consultant doing AF or
FSP work.
